David Moyes: Man Utd manager to face Everton for the first time since leaving
David Moyes comes up against Everton for the first time since leaving when Manchester United entertain his old club at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
Moyes enjoyed 11 years in charge at Everton before taking up the opportunity to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer, but has endured a mixed start to his reign.
United are unbeaten in 12 games in all competitions, but have slipped back down to eighth in the Premier League table following successive 2-2 draws away to Cardiff and Tottenham.
However, Moyes has secured progress to the knock-out rounds of the UEFA Champions League and will now look to drag United back into the title race.
After Sunday's draw at White Hart Lane, where former Everton youngster Wayne Rooney twice equalised for United, Moyes warned the reigning champions cannot afford to lose any more ground.
Home games against Everton and Newcastle United this week give Moyes' side a chance to make inroads into the nine-point advantage Arsenal currently hold.
Everton head to Old Trafford two points and three places ahead of United after making an encouraging start to life under Moyes' replacement Roberto Martinez.
A 4-0 thrashing of Stoke City on Saturday ended a run of three straight draws and Everton have lost just once in 13 league games this season - a 3-1 defeat at Manchester City in October.
The Toffees failed to win at Old Trafford under Moyes' stewardship and their last win at the ground came in August 1992 in United's first home game in the Premier League era.
