Boro Lead Omeruo Race Ahead Of Hull City

Middlesbrough are still the leader in the chase for Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo despite reported interest from Premier League side Hull City, the Gazette understands.

The Nigerian who impressed at the World Cup has told Aitor Karanka he wants to return to Boro next season after a successful loan spell at the Riverside last year.
Reports linking Steve Bruce’s Hull with a move for the defender gathered momentum yesterdayday.
But the Gazette,a Middlesbrough newspaper understandsthe club are still in the driving seat and expect to seal the deal for an Omeruo return in the near future.
Omeruo signed a new four-year contract with the Blues in May but has yet to make a first team appearance for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Karanka told The Gazette last week: “I hope that Ken is going to come here again because he has told me he wants to join us.
“He wants to join us, Chelsea want him to come to us, I want him to and for this reason I hope it is sorted as soon as possible.”
Omeruo made 14 starts for Boro last season before going on to help Nigeria reach the last 16 of the World Cup.
Meanwhile Boro fans have overwhelmingly voted for the return of the Super Eagle.
In a poll conducted by the Gazette,98% of Boro fans who voted in the poll said they want Omeruo back at Boro this summer.
