English Championship side Middlesbrough’s hope of having 20 year old Super Eagles central defender, Kenneth Omeruo on loan for next season is being threatened by Europa League side Hull City who have shortlisted the resourceful centre back for a possible bid this summer, according to a sl10.ng report.
Omeruo spent the end of last season on loan at Middlesbrough from his parent club Chelsea and Boro were hoping to land the Eagles star to help boost their promotion hope after his superlative showing at the World Cup.
However his performances at the World cup where he played every minute in Nigeria’s four games have not gone unnoticed by the Tigers who once paraded former Eagles captain Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha.
Manager Steve Bruce of Hull City whose side is short of options defensively is eyeing Omeruo to shore up his backline ahead of a busy schedule that will see them campaign in Europe as well.
Even though Hull are favourites to clinch the signing of Tottenham Hotspurs’ Michael Dawson on a free transfer, a loan deal for Omeruo is being discussed as manager Steve Bruce is a known admirer of the 20-year-old’s talent.
Hull believes having been in the Premier League will boost their chances of landing the Nigerian despite Boro’s boss Aitor Karanka’s close relationship with Coach of Omeruo’s parent club and owners Chelsea.
They believe Omeruo would jump at the chance of playing in the Premier League to enhance his chances of breaking into Chelsea’s first team than playing in the Championship with Middlesbrough.
