Millwall Boss: Shittu Has Future Here

Danny Shittu
Millwall manager Ian Holloway has maintained former Super Eagles defender Danny Shittu remains part of his plan despite overlooking him and three other experienced campaigners on a training tour of Portugal.

Shittu, Paul Robinson, Carlos Edwards and David Forde were left behind for the tour in Algrave, Portugal, but the coach said he will reintegrate them into the team of young and fringe players he took along when he return to England next week.
He said their experience will help the team do well when season starts.
“I’ve left four of the senior boys (Danny Shittu, Paul Robinson, Carlos Edwards and David Forde) at home so that I can have a look at the young ones, but they will be ready for the team when I get back,” he said.
“Hopefully, a lot of the stuff we did at the end of last year with Robinson, Edwards, Shittu and Forde will be just like clockwork again on the brilliant training pitches we’ve got now.
“This trip is so I can see where the young ones are.
“I’ve brought Mick Harford out here so he can watch things as well and we’ll discuss where we think these boys are and then go off with a plan to implement when we get back.
“But so far, these lads have been a credit to Millwall – I have got pride in my club and I’m making a decent pride of young players, if you’ll excuse the pun.”
Shittu who was part of the Super Eagles side at the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Ghana, injured his leg last season and was out for some weeks, but he is now fit again to help Millwall fight for Premier League promotion ticket.
