World Cup ticket: Glo compliments Eagles, Nigerians

Nigerian national football team's major sponsor, Globacom has described 2013 as a good year for Nigerian football.
In a press release issued by the company on Saturday, immediately after the Super Eagles of Nigeria overwhelmed hard fighting Walyas of Ethiopia by 2-0 in Calabar to qualify on a 4-1
aggregate for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Globacom said Nigeria started the year on a high and ended it on a high.
In the statement entitled "Triple Congratulations to a Blessed Nation", Globacom said "by winning the African Cup of Nations in January, the Under 17 World Cup just last week and now qualifying for the World Cup, Nigeria's football is clearly on the ascendancy."
The company congratulated the Super Eagles'  players and thanked them for the great honour they have done their fatherland. It also thanked football supporters across the country, particularly the Nigerian Football Supporters Club, also sponsored by Globacom for  their unrelenting support for the Super Eagles and all the national teams.
The statement also congratulated the government and sports administrators for adopting the right measures to energise Nigerian football and restoring the country's supremacy in continental and global tournaments.
"Prior to this year, Nigeria which was once revered as the true giant of African football, took the back seat while other nations took the shine. We are exceedingly delighted to savour this glorious moment with other Nigerians. Our series of success stories in international football competitions has restored our pride‎ and rekindled our hope," the statement said.
The company said with the qualification, the next critical step is to prepare adequately for the World Cup and excel at the mundial.
Globacom is the official telecoms partner of Nigerian Football Federation and the major sponsor of Nigerian national football teams.
