Amuneke Cautions Eagles Ahead Greece Tie

--Eaglets handler tips Nigeria to go beyond first round
Golden Eaglets coach Emmanuel Amuneke has cautioned the Super Eagles to see today’s international friendly match with Greece as a good opportunity for them to step up their preparation for the 2014 FIFA World Cup holding in Brazil.

The ex-international who was part of Nigeria’s team to the 1994 World Cup in the United States of America said playing Greece should not be seen as a do or die affair, saying he expects the match to produce a better performance from the players after last Wednesday’s friendly match with Scotland.

“Personally, I think playing Greece is good for the players to further step up their preparation for the World Cup but they have to be very careful because at this level, they should not have cause to pick up unnecessary injury”, begins the National U-17 Golden Eaglets coach.

“We saw the match against Scotland last week and you will agree with me that the players were just coming together after a long time and having spent some days in camp, I expect to see a better performance against Greece so that we will all know what to expect from them in Brazil.

Amuneke who is confident that the Super Eagles will not disappoint in Brazil said the players need support from Nigerians to be able to live up to expectation at the summer game.

“Well, I am sure we have a team that can go there and make impressive participation but the players must be focused and have confident in themselves because the World Cup is a different ball game and every nation taking part in it is expected to give its best.

Nigeria will play Iran, Bosnia Herzegovina and Argentina during the first round of the summer game which kicks off on June 12.
