Uzoenyi Replaces Injured Echiejile

Ejike Uzoenyi
News emanating from the Super Eagles camp is that Ejike Uzoenyi has been called up to replace injured Elderson Echiejile for the World Cup in Brazil.

Uzoenyi was a part of the original 30 man preliminary squad, but was cut on Monday when coach Stephen Keshi named his final 23.
But with Echiejile ruled out for at least three weeks, coach Keshi has opted to call up the versatile Mamelodi Sundowns-bound midfielder.
Uzoenyi, who has had to fill in at left-back at club level before, has been in good form for his club in Nigeria, Enugu Rangers, and was recently the player of the tournament at the 2014 CHAN.
While it is sad news for Echiejile, who plies his trade for Monaco, it is a golden chance for Uzoenyi to make his mark at the Mundial.
