Echiejile: Club form won’t affect me in Brazil

The Super Eagles defender has revealed that his lack of playing time with his Ligue 1 outfit in the just concluded season will not affect his performance at the World Cup

Nigeria international Elderson Echiejile has disclosed that his club form will not affect his performance for the Super Eagles when the 2014 Fifa World Cup gets underway in June.
Echiejile made just five appearances for AS Monaco in the just concluded season since his move from Portuguese outfit Sporting Braga.
The Monaco of France left full back who is in the 30-man provisional squad also revealed that the Super Eagles must work very hard to qualify from Group F that parades Argentina, Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“That  is the game of football, at times you don’t get all the playing time you expect but in as much as you are physically fit and check yourself that you are mentally okay for the challenges, there is no problem with that, “ Echiejile told Completesports.
“Playing at the World Cup is quite different from club football and as long as you work really hard and you’re ready to give your best, I am sure there won’t be any problem.”
The former Sporting Braga player is however optimistic that the Super Eagles warm up games will help him get into proper shape before the start of the competition.
“No, I don’t think so because we still have about three games to play before the World Cup and the matches are enough for me to work on my fitness.

“It is a great opportunity that these three matches are coming before the World Cup; I am not foreseeing any problems with my performance in Brazil.

When asked how his side will be hoping to tackles Nigeria’s Group F opponents when the competition kicks off, he said each game will be handled with caution as they come.
“Well, we just have to take each game as it comes but one thing I can tell you is that we are going to do our best and for us to qualify from the group, it means we really need to work hard as a team and have confidence in ourselves.
“I know that none of these teams will be easy but with proper focus and concentration, I am sure that we are not going to disappoint.
