COMPLETE SPORTS : Odemwingie Is Your March Player Of The Month

For the third month running, the winner of the Complete Sports Player of the Month poll has emerged with an overwhelming majority.

Following in the footsteps of Ejike Uzoenyi (January winner) and Michael Olaitan (February winner), who both got more than half of the votes, Osaze Odemwingie has been voted by you as your March Player of the Month.

The Stoke forward, who was in fine form in March, received 71 percent of the votes, beating Emmanuel Emenike (24 percent) and Chinedu Obasi (five percent) to second and third places respectively.

Spurred on by his desire to return to the Super Eagles squad in time for the 2014 World Cup, Odemwingie played like a man on a mission last month.

All season, including games with Cardiff City whom he left for Stoke in January, Odemwingie has scored seven goals in 27 matches in all competitions. In March alone he scored four times in four matches.

He started his March spree on the 15th when he grabbed a brace in a 3-1 win over West Ham, following up a week later with a goal in the 4-1 at Aston Villa. He added another goal in the 1-0 victory over Hull on the 29th, completing back-to-back scoring in three matches.

The purple patch has seen Odemwingie hailed as one of Stoke’s most important players by boss Mark Hughes, who was also a fine striker in his days at Manchester United, Barcelona and Chelsea.

Emenike also had a great March, scoring three goals in five matches. He was on target once in the 2-1 victory over Erciyespor on the 16th. He then scored two more goals in the 3-0 win over Gaziantepspor on the 24th as Fenerbahce extended their lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig.

Apart from his goals, Emenike’s all-round displays have been key in leading his club to a 10-point gap at the top of the league.

On his part, Obasi played six games and scored twice, a healthy return for a player gradually being eased back from a long lay-off.

HOW YOU VOTED
OSAZE ODEMWINGIE 71 %
EMMANUEL EMENIKE 24 %
CHINEDU OBASI 5 %
