NFF ready to pay Keshi's four months salary arrears on Thursday

In order to ensure that the Eagles technical crew concentrates fully on its World Cup plans and programmes, the NFF is ready to pay all salaries it owes the coach & assistants

The Nigeria Football Federation has said it would pay coach Stephen Keshi the four months salary owed to him on Thursday in order to ensure his concentration on the World Cup in less than two months.

The NFF has also concluded plans to pay another three months ahead which will Keshi and his assistants would be taken care of till June 2014, according to the chairman, Media Committee of the Federation, Chief Emeka Inyama who made this revelations in Abuja today.

"As I speak with you, the four months outstanding salaries for coaches of the Super Eagles have been processed for payment. The mandate was signed today as being confirmed by the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation. They will get the alert tomorrow or next," Inyama told Goal.

"Also the outstanding salaries of coaches of all national teams including those who are no longer with us are being processed and will be paid by next week at the latest. The Federal Government has approved some money but the money has to follow some processes before it is finally paid to us. That is what has delayed the payment of John Obuh's salaries and the rest.

"The Nigeria Football Federation has also concluded arrangement to pay the salaries of Super Eagles' coaches till the end of June this year to avoid any distractions. We did it for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa where we paid them three months ahead and it will also be done for the 2014 World Cup holding in Brazil this year.

"This is to avoid distraction; we want to give the coaches led by Stephen Keshi all the support, all the enablement for Keshi to deliver on his job," he said.

He also dispelled the rumours in some quarters that the Federation and Keshi were not in good terms.

"The Nigeria Football Federation enjoys cordial, warm and wonderful relationship with the Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi. He is our employee and we will do everything to support him.

"Like I said earlier we are also satisfied with his performance on the job and our duty is to be partners in progress," Inyama said.
