NFF To Offer Keshi Improved Contract

By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will offer Super Eagles head hoach Stephen Keshi an improved fresh contract after the World Cup, a top official has revealed.

According to the top official who does not want his name in print, the Technical and Development Committee at a recent meeting with Keshi that also had the NFF boss Aminu Maigari in attendance hinted  of the desire of the ruling body to offer him a fresh contract.

"We are going to forward a proposal to the NFF executive committee to approve an improved contract package for Keshi and his assistants. All of us in the committee agreed that our coach has done well so far and deserves to get a contract renewal.

"We shall meet again to tidy the contract and if possible open talks with Keshi and other coaches. But all this will be subject to the approval by the executive committee of the NFF,''our source stated.

The relationship between the NFF and Keshi has been frosty since January last year after the AfCON victory and Keshi resigned as coach claiming that the federation was searching for his replacement in the middle of the championship.

Keshi was pacified and he went on to win a World Cup ticket for Nigeria and led the home boys to a third place finish at CHAN in South Africa.

Our very reliable source also revealed that the plan to renew Keshi and his crew's contract is to motivate them and allow them concentrate on the task of doing well at the World Cup in Brazil.

"We want the coaches to give their best in Brazil knowing that their job is secured after the World Cup. The NFF is satisfied with the Keshi led technical crew and will do everthing possible to encourage them,''the top official further stated.

Complete Sports however gathered the committee will propose about 40 percent increase in the salaries of Keshi and his assistants aside other incentives.
