ADEPOJU: EAGLES CAN BEAT S/AFRICA

Ex-International urges team to remain focused.

Ex-international, Mutiu Adepoju says he believes strongly that the Home Eagles featuring in the 2014 CAF African Nations Championship in South Africa can beat the Bafana Bafana despite their not too impressive performances so far in the tournament, Complete Sports can report
The Home Eagles defeated Mozambique 4-2 in their second game of the tournament on Wednesday to remain in contention for the quarter final stage and Mutiu who has just been secured Kwara Academy job has urged the players to build on their performance in the last game.

“Gradually, the team is coming up and I am sure that with our support, they can do more but I want to see a situation where by they will learn from their mistakes in the last game and improve on it. They need to be focused and make sure they beat South Africa in the match”, says Adepoju.

“I am sure that the coaches would have talked to the players while Ike would have also made the goalkeeper to understand what he needs to know in the competition. In a tournament like this, such is expected but the coaches should make efforts to correct the players so that they can do better.

“If the boys play to their potentials, I don’t see South Africa beating us and that is why I said the players need our support so that it can boost their morale. The match against Mali was their first in the tournament while the Mozambique game was a bit better, so as they progress, the team will keep improving.

While Nigeria face South Africa in Sunday’s last group game, Mali and Mozambique will slug it out same day and time to know who makes it to the quarter final in the group.
