Women's Ashes: Charlotte Edwards confident her England side can beat Australia again

England Women's captain Charlotte Edwards is confident the team can return some pride to English cricket fans and retain the Ashes in Australia.

The women's series will, like last year in England, be played across all three formats of the game with six points awarded to the winner of the one-off Test, two each for a draw, and two points for the winners of each of the three one-day internationals and three Twenty20s.
Edwards's team drew their sole warm-up clash with Australia A in Perth ahead of the one-off Test at the WACA, which starts on Friday morning.
Paul Shaw's side won the reformatted series 12 points to four despite drawing the Test match in Wormsley.
That makes them favourites to retain the urn down under but, having seen their male counterparts whitewashed 5-0 after celebrating their own victory a matter of months ago, they will be wary of a response from the underdogs.
Edwards told Sky Sports News: "We've fully prepared ourselves to win this Test match. We feel we have a bowling attack that can take 20 wickets, some world-class batters in our line-up, so all our preparation has been around winning the game.
"It's a huge incentive, the six points for winning it as well, so hopefully come Monday the result will be in our favour. That's the talk in Australia at the moment, the WACA's going to produce a result.
"We're not thinking too much about the six points, obviously if we can't do that the draw's the next best thing for us. We're really confident we can come out with a positive result."
Edwards's opposite number Jodie Fields has also been taking pointers from the recently concluded men's Ashes.
Darren Lehmann's side impressed with their attacking style, while the tourists struggled with a game built around containment.
Fields said: "It was disappointing series for us in England but we are very keen to right that here.
"We've all gone back to our domestic teams and we are in form. I can't wait to get out there.
"We want to go out and play an aggressive brand of cricket like the men have.
"We're here to focus on what the Australian team is doing well and I can't wait to see what they do."
