EKPO WARNS HOME EAGLES

--Not to allow FIFA Ranking affect their performance against South Africa
Ex-International, Friday Ekpo has warned the Home-Based Super Eagles who are currently campaigning in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa not to worry about the latest FIFA ranking which was released yesterday.

The African champions dropped out of the top 40 in the latest edition of the FIFA World rankings released on Thursday.

“I would advise the team not allow this to get into them, instead how to qualify the country for the quarter final should be their major priority as the position we found ourselves in the Championship calls for much to think about than pondering on why we got dropped on the FIFA ranking”, says Ekpo.

The Super Eagles went down four more places to 41st this month, after moving down a spot in the December standings.

Eagles still maintained the top 10 spot in Africa despite dropping from fourth to seventh place on the continent table.

Perhaps a good showing at the CHAN could influence the reigning AFCON champions’ position in the February rankings, as all results at the tournament would by far mean a lot.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Super Eagles clash on Sunday against CHAN host, South Africa, Ekpo has charged Keshi to look for drastic solution to the goal keeping lapses in the team.

“Agbim has in the two games so far given signs that he is not fit enough after conceded two goals in each of the two matches, and with his showing so far, I don’t expect Keshi to say nothing is wrong of his performance.
