CHAN Eagles must improve, says Eguavoen

CHAN Eagles must improve, says Eguavoen
The former Super Eagles coach has advised Stephen Keshi’s men to perk up their performance if they hope to lift the Africa Nations Championship trophy

Augustine Eguavoen, former Super Eagles head coach, has insisted that the Nigeria team at the on-going African Nations Championship must step up their game as they have reached the knock-out phase.
Nigeria will take on Morocco in the second quarter-final of the Caf organised competition.
“I think the players are gradually getting it right with the way they played South Africa on Sunday and I think they should look beyond that because the stage they are now is very crucial and they need to improve their game”, Eguavoen told Complete Sports.
“We just need to encourage the players and also support them; they need to have the support that will boost their mental concentration in the tournament.
“The coaches have also proved that they have made necessary corrections in the team but they have to be more determined and focused because the quarter final match will not be easy like the South African game.!

However, Eguavoen has predicted that a torrid time awaits the Eagles as they inch nearer to winning the competition.
“Well, they still have to play to instruction because the fact that they did not play well in the first two games in the tournament does not mean they can still not win the trophy.
“They just need to be focused and make sure they win their quarter final and semi final matches while the final will be easier for them because they would have gained all the confidence they need to win the trophy,” he concluded.
