'Unusual' Ghanaian interest in Brazil

The cheapest ticket for overseas fans for the 2014 World Cup final is $440 and the most expensive is $990.
The Ghanaian fan will have to part with $90 for the cheapest group stage ticket - far above the reach of many desiring fans.

But even so, there’s still massive interest by Ghanaians resident in the country and abroad, according to watchers.
"Judging by what we've seen today, you can say that there's a lot of supporter groups interested. But also, there's an unusual interest from ordinary Ghanaians who previously might not be interested in it," Ibrahim Sannie Daara, Communications Director of the Ghana FA speaking to Citi FM.
The Ghana FA briefed fans and the general public on the processes for acquiring tickets for the football festival.
Reaction
A leading member of the amalgamated national supporters’ body, Aziz Haruna Futa, said the prices are on the high side.
"This is not new for me, this is my third time going to the World Cup. And I know all the processes. My only worry is about the money - the cash involved. I think that it is too huge but definitely we have to go."
The supporters are casting their nets wide as they solicit assistance, notably from companies in the corporate sector.
"We are many - we are more than four thousand fans. Because all the supporters have come together and formed 'Ghana Supporters'. So if you are able to support a hundred or two hundred people who will wear your tee shirt or whatever, just imagined the [mileage] you will get."
Know the rules
According to Fred Crentsil, who was in charge of the briefing on Monday, the application for tickets can be accessed on the Ghana Football Association website, adding that supporters who are interested in going to the tournament must start applying now before the deadline date of February 4.
Payments must be made before February 28.
He was at pains to stress that supporters must understand the rules of the application processes.
